This is a gap, not a position. It is also the one clients raise first, usually before any question about what the work will cost or how long it will take, which makes publishing nothing on it a conspicuous silence rather than a neutral one.

We already behave as though we hold a position. The planning sources behind these pages are kept out of this repository entirely because they carry client-verbatim material, and that decision was made without a written rule to point at. A practice nobody has written down is a practice nobody can check, hold us to, or inherit.

What this page will have to answer: which client material may be sent to a hosted model and which may never be; what the providers we use actually retain, as distinct from what their marketing implies; how a client is told, and at what point in an engagement; what happens to material once the work ends; how this reconciles with the confidentiality terms already in our contracts; and what we do when a client's own policy is stricter or more permissive than ours.

Until it is written, treat this as unsettled. Anyone quoting Made by Many on client data handling should say we have not published a position yet, and answer from the contract in front of them rather than from this site.
